How to use Google's "Find your smartphone"
Before we look at how to use "Find your smartphone", let's check a few things. If you want to search or use a smartphone that has lost the remote lock, meet the following conditions.
・ Power is on
・ You are logged in to your Google account
・You are connected to mobile data or Wi-Fi
・ Display on Google Play is on
・ Location information is on
・Find device is turned on
Make "Find device" available
By utilizing the "Find device" service, the possibility of discovery is greatly increased. However, in order to use this function, you need to turn on the "Find device" service on a regular basis.
It is already turned on by default, but I will explain the procedure for those who may have turned it off or who want to check it just in case.
❶ Tap "Settings".
❷ Tap "Security".
❸ If "Find device" is checked, it is enabled.
Keep GPS on all the time
With the "Find device" function, you can track your smartphone from GPS to identify the location. However, in order to use this function, the GPS function of the lost smartphone must be turned on.
If the GPS function is turned on, the charge will be consumed faster, so many people usually turn it off to save power. In some cases, it is turned off for privacy reasons.
However, if you turn it off, you will not be able to locate it when it is lost, which may result in invasion of privacy. For this reason, it's a good idea to keep GPS on on a regular basis.
How to remotely erase all data from your Android phone
If you can't find your phone and decide you don't want it anymore, you can click Erase Device Data on the android.com/find page to restore it to factory defaults.
The green Erase Device Data button will reappear, click it to erase all data.
However, please note that although this method erases the data in the internal storage, the data on the SD card inserted in the smartphone may not be erased.
